Abstract

In 1983 a Society for stimulating Education, the Arts, Science and Humanities was founded by K.L. Poll, editor of a leading Dutch daily paper (1). Members of the Haarlem division of this Society among themselves held extensive discussions pondering the question of what is the common denominator of these four human activities.
