Abstract
This section is concerned with the use of the Silastic catheter. The problems discussed are those directly relevant to the dialysis procedure or cannula. More general issues such as bone disease are not included. The manual covers problems relevant to CAPD or intermittent manual PD. It does not consider specific events related to machine assisted dialysis, e.g. reversed osmosis or cycler machines, as these are covered in the relevant manufacturer’s technical bulletins.
