Dermatoglyphics in the Pathology of Breast Cancer and Cervix Carcinoma

Abstract

From 1936 (Cummins 1936) to the present, numerous dermatoglyphic studies have been dedicated to a wide range of chromosomal, genic, and growth pathologies, with often contradictory results. In fact, while a fairly clear, typical dermatoglyphic pattern emerges in aberrations involving chromosomes and growth, in genie, or probable hereditary pathologies, only a few differences with limited use have been noted with respect to the control group. It is therefore evident that the identification of significant differences in dermatoglyphics in frequent, serious pathological forms of high social relevance, as is the case with tumors, may be of great importance, especially in the field of preventive medicine or medical screening. For this purpose we examined the digital-palmar prints in cases involving two tumors which strike females, that is, breast and cervical cancer.
