Feasibility Study of a Method to Obtain Corrosion Protection of the NdFeB-Type Magnet
Chapter
Abstract
The development of a coating method for NdFeB magnets is presented in all its steps. It includes an electrolytic process of zinc deposition, with detailed description of the problem that arose with hydrogen embrittlement, either with or without a conversion coating. For extremely severe working environments, another zinc coating, not electrolytic, is presented: the DACROMET process. Alternative testing procedures have been evaluated, in a neutral atmosphere or in acidic atmospheres of SO2 or H2S.
