Abstract

The possibl routes for alloy preparation were described (6,1). Already in the early stages of CEAM it was clear that 95% pure Nd could be used. The origin, levels and detection methods were reviewed for some of the impurities, such as Oxygen, Fluorine and Aluminium. The analysed composition of all castings made over the CEAM period were presented (6.1) and microstructure were shown of some new alloys. The economics of SmFe11Ti were shown to be doubled.
