Holocene Sea-Level Changes and Crustal Movements in the North Sea Region: An Experiment with Regional Eustasy

Abstract

Eighteen relative sea-level curves from the North Sea region are used to test the concept of regional eustasy. Net uplift/subsidence curves for each location are derived but no single baseline, regional eustatic, curve will account for all the residuals identified. The simplest conclusion is that dynamic sea-level factors have not remained constant on the scale of the North Sea during the Holocene.
