Abstract

The impact of observations with the IUE Satellite on research in dwarf novae and nova-like stars is reviewed. Various kinds of observational phenomena are presented and their theoretical implications are discussed. Special emphasis is put on so far unsolved theoretical problems they pose, as well as on the still largely unexploited collective statistical information content of the data archive.
