Vibration analysis as tool for computerised machine monitoring
Chapter
Abstract
Machine condition monitoring under the aspect of production quality and installation characteristics will be an increasing fact for the view of profitability. From todays point of view condition monitoring is only practical by using certain measurement methods. The registration of machine vibration seems to be very helpful, because with this kind of measurement it is possible to register the immediate condition of the system and even the developement of abrasion during running time. Examples from the iron and steel industries demonstrate, how easy it is to recognise the installation characteristics and estimate the condition of the system.
