Model Calibration and Verification

Abstract

The model is always an interpretation of reality and is a valid tool only if it represents the reality correctly. The model calibration is, therefore, an essential step after its development. Calibration is performed by comparing the model output with the corresponding measured values. The verification is a further step for a more general evaluation of the model and requires a different set of measured data for testing the model performance. Combined steps of calibration and verification make up the model validation.
