Abstract
In this paper we analyze the total energy consumption of a wireless sensor network (WSN) per single communication round as a function of the node density and base station coordinates. We provide performance results of several simulations with WSN using both single hop and multi hop mechanisms for data transfer, and than discuss the relationships between the node density, the base station location and the total energy dissipation per round.
