Samenvatting
De huid van pasgeboren kinderen is dunner dan de huid van volwassenen. Dit geldt nog sterker voor de huid van prematuur geboren kinderen. De barrierefunctie van de huid is verminderd in die zin dat er sprake is van een grotere kans op opportunistische infecties, een grotere kwetsbaarheid voor lesies, een toegenomen vochtverlies over de huid en een grotere absorptie voor lokaal aangebrachte stoffen en medicamenten (1).
