Samenvatting

In Nederland is blootstelling aan airborne allergenen binnenshuis (huisstofmijten, huisdieren en in mindere mate schimmels) één van de oorzaken van klachten bij allergische en astmatische patiënten. Uit verschillende studies blijkt dat een beperking van de blootstelling aan deze allergenen kan bijdragen tot een vermindering van klachten of tot een afname van de overgevoeligheid van de luchtwegen bij patiënten met astma (1). De beste oplossing is de verwijdering van de allergenenbron, wat echter niet altijd kan.
