Complications Inguinal Hernias: Strangulated Incarcerated and Obstructed Hernias

  • Pradeep Chowbey

Obstructed and strangulated inguinal hernias represent an emergency surgical condition worldwide. Inguinal hernias are repaired mainly to relieve symptoms like pain and reduce the risk of acute incarceration/strangulation. Surgical repairs done under emergency conditions are invariably morbid in nature. This chapter will mainly highlight on the methods for early diagnosis and varied approaches for the management of emergency hernia repairs. It will also focus on the latest guidelines and recommendations for managing strangulated and obstructed inguinal hernias.
