Abstract

We have successfully grown single crystals of PrBa2Cu4O8 (Prl24) by means of a high pressure flux method under P(O2)=11 atm in MgO crucibles. The diffraction patterns of a precession camera revealed that the grown Prl24 single crystals are twin-free with lattice parameters of a=3.881, b=3.900, and c=27.42 Å. The temperature dependence of resistivity did not show superconductivity, at least, down to 2 K, but possesses large anisotropy and very high conductivity along the b-axis direction.
