Indications for Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection of Early Gastric Cancer

  • Kinichi HottaEmail author

Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) of early gastric cancer (EGC) has developed in the early 1980s, such as strip biopsy method [1], endoscopic resection with local injection of hypersaline-epinephrine (ERHSE) method [2], endoscopic mucosal resection with a cap-fitted panendoscope (EMRC) method [3], endoscopic aspiration mucosectomy (EAM) method [4], and endoscopic mucosal resection with a ligating device (EMR-L) method [5]. These methods are classified into conventional EMR methods. These are simple and safe methods, but lesion size which can be resected in en bloc fashion is limited.
