Order and Disorder in Self-Assembled Monolayers Probed by FT-RAIRS
Conference paper
Abstract
Grazing-incidence Fourier-transform reflection-absorption infrared spectroscopy (FT-RAIRS) was used to characterize self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of alkyl thiols (HS−(CH2) n−1−R) tightly bonded to noble metals. The spectral features were found to be sensitive to the structural and particularly the conformational details of the monolayer film. Information on the annealing and adsorption processes of the films could be obtained with this technique.
