Abstract
On the adopted definition secondary pollen presentation occurs in 25 families. It takes two main forms, exposed presentation of pollen on a structure other than the thecae, and issue from an enclosing structure, taking place mainly or exclusively in response to pollinator visits. In the second class some flowers have an explosive mechanism which has to be tripped and these in turn fall into two groups, those depositing the pollen directly and those that release a cloud of pollen into the air.
