Abstract

Non mi legga qui non è matematico, nelli mia principi ... In plain English: No one should read me, my writings who is not a mathematician.... That was Leonardo da Vinci (Figs. 1 and 2) speaking about himself. Leonardo’s works, his visionary insight, still today create a certain fascination. The other one, Raffaello Santi (il divino), Raffael (the divine), sees himself more as a disciple of geometry than a painter. In his “School of Athens”, he celebrates geometry, shows us philosophers and mathematicians, and even poses with the group of mathematicians in the right of the picture.
