Zusammenfassung
Pflanzliches Gedächtnis Im Zuge eines Programms zur regionalen Identitätsfindung haben sich 24 Gemeinden unter der Dachmarke Hügelland östlich von Graz — Schöcklland zusammengeschlossen. Hinsichtlich der Nähe zum Großraum der Landeshauptstadt Graz wurden vorrangig Effekte eines fortschreitenden Suburbanisierungsprozesses erhoben. Im Jahr 2007 hielt die Lokale Aktionsgruppe (LAG) Hügelland östlich von Graz — Schöcklland in einer Grundsatzschrift fest, dass diese Suburbanisierung auch mit negativen Auswirkungen für die Region verbunden ist, wie „Zersiedelung, Zurückdrängen der Natur und hier heimischer Pflanzen und Tiere, der stetig steigende Bedarf an Infraund Suprastruktur, die Passivierung des gesellschaftlichen, kulturellen und sozialen Lebens und die damit einhergehende Entwicklung zu ‚Schlafstädten‘[sic!]“1 für Menschen, die berufsbedingt zwischen Graz und der Region pendeln.
Abstract
Vegetal Memory During the course of a program designed to promote regional identity, 24 municipalities joined together under the umbrella label of Hügelland östlich von Graz — Schöcklland (Hill Country East of Graz — Schöcklland). In view of the proximity of the region to the conurbation of the regional capital Graz, the effects of a progressive process of suburbanization played a key role in the program. In 2007 the Local Action Group (LAG) Hügelland östlich von Graz — Schöcklland produced a manifesto stating that this suburbanization process was also having negative effects on the region in the form of “uncontrolled development, a forced retreat of the natural environment and particularly indigenous plants and animals, a constantly rising need for infrastructure and suprastructure, a passivation of social and cultural life, and a concomitant development of ‘bedroom communities’”1 for people commuting between Graz and the region.
