Zusammenfassung

Die späten 70er und die 80er Jahre waren in Südamerika eine Periode der Institutionalisierung und Konsolidierung demokratischer politischer Systeme. Prägten noch Mitte der 70er Jahre autoritäre Regime das Bild der Region, so kehrte in einem Prozeß, der bereits 1979 einsetzte, Land für Land zur Demokratie zurück, zuletzt im März 1990 Chile.
