Zusammenfassung

In diesem Kapitel werden die wichtigsten Grundlagen vorgestellt, welche unabhängig vom therapeutischen Setting sowie dem medizinischen und therapeutischen Hintergrund der professionellen Helfer notwendig für eine erfolgreiche Behandlung einer Schmerzstörung im Kindes- und Jugendalter sind. Ausführlich werden die „3 Denkfallen“ beschrieben, welche für die Entwicklung einer Schmerzstörung förderlich sind. Im Anschluss wird die Notwendigkeit einer aktiven Schmerzbewältigung und des Einbezugs der Familie erläutert. Im Weiteren werden wichtige Aspekte der medikamentösen Schmerztherapie sowie die medizinischen Hintergründe der wichtigsten biologischen Einflussfaktoren kindlicher chronischer Kopf-, Bauch und Rückenschmerzen vorgestellt. Am Ende des Kapitels werden die therapeutische Haltung sowie Fragen nach der Funktionalität von Schmerzen thematisiert.
