Zusammenfassung

Die Begutachtung von Operationspräparaten durch den Pathologen ist ein integraler Bestandteil für die Versorgung von Patienten mit Rektumkarzinomen. Unabhängig davon, wie operativ vorgegangen wird, ob es sich also um Rektumresektate oder um Rektumamputate handelt, sollen diese makroskopisch und mikroskopisch beurteilt werden. Je nach Fallkonstellation können auch noch zusätzliche molekularpathologische Untersuchungen erforderlich sein. Dabei sind einige Besonderheiten zu beachten, die mit der Therapie und den klinischen Verläufen von Patienten mit Rektumkarzinomen zusammenhängen.
