Zusammenfassung
In der gültigen Nomina Anatomica (Terminologia Anatomica 2011) sowie in den meisten Anatomiebüchern werden Rektum und Analkanal als getrennte Organe besprochen. Anatomisch und klinisch wird die Grenze zwischen beiden Darmabschnitten unterschiedlich gesetzt und definiert (s. unten). In diesem Buchbeitrag wird das Anorektum, das sich in kraniokaudaler Richtung aus dem Darmrohr entwickelt bzw. differenziert, als ein gemeinsames, komplexes funktionelles System mit unterschiedlichen Abschnitten abgehandelt.
