Programming Languages

  • Raymond Turner

Without programming languages, machines would be idle devices much like cars without drivers or hairdressers without combs. In this chapter, we provide a guide to their definitions, and their containing paradigms. This will serve as background to one of the main objectives of this section of the book, namely to explore the semantic issues that surround programming languages.
