Zusammenfassung

Verhaltenstherapie strebt mittels operationalisierter Ziele und eines breites Verfahrensarsenals die systematische Besserung von Patientenproblemen an. Ihre historische Entwicklung, anhaltende Weiterentwicklung und Zukunftsperspektiven als Heilbehandlung und Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe auf der Basis der modernen Psychologie werden dargestellt. Verhaltenstherapie ist die mit Abstand am besten empirisch validierte psychotherapeutische Grundorientierung. Wesentliche Beiträge zu ihrer guten Wirksamkeit, hohen Dauerhaftigkeit der Therapieerfolge und guten Übertragbarkeit der Forschungsergebnisse auf die Routinepraxis leisten ihr umfangreiches Wissen zu Ätiologie, Diagnostik und Therapieprinzipien sowie das störungsspezifische Vorgehen auf der Basis eines umfassenden ätiologischen Grundmodells. Zum Abschluss des Kapitels wird ein allgemeines Sequenzmodell der Ansatzpunkte zur Behandlung psychischer Störungen dargestellt, bevor Kritik und potenzielle Fehlentwicklungen diskutiert werden.
