Individuelle Unterschiede in der Selbststeuerung

Zusammenfassung

Ausgehend von der These, dass die Vernachlässigung individueller Unterschiede in weiten Teilen der Psychologie auf überwindbaren Missverständnissen beruht, werden individuelle Unterschiede als notwendige Voraussetzung für die Entdeckung allgemeiner Gesetzmäßigkeiten beschrieben. Nach einer Darstellung der engen Verflechtung motivationaler und selbstregulatorischer Prozesse werden die im Bereich der Selbstregulation populären Globalkonstrukte dekomponiert, d. h. in ihre funktionsanalytisch beschreibbaren Bestandteile zerlegt. Aufbauend auf der Funktionsanalyse selbstregulatorischer Kompetenzen werden die für das Zusammenspiel von Motivation und Selbstregulation relevanten Prozesse näher erläutert. Hier kommt der Regulation positiver und negativer Affekte (z. B. Handlungs- vs. Lageorientierung) eine besondere Bedeutung zu, da von ihr die Interaktion der für das Umsetzen von Vorsätzen („Willensbahnung“) und das Lernen aus Fehlern (Selbstwachstum) notwendigen mentalen Systeme abhängt.
