Extracardial Effects of Nifedipine (Adalat): Measurements of Liver Blood Flow in Animals and Humans and of Peripheral Circulation in the Lower Limbs
Chapter
Abstract
Like other antianginal drugs, nifedipine has cardial and extracardial effects. We investigated the extracardial influence of nifedipine
- 1.
on liver blood flow in dogs and healthy volunteers, recording simultaneously arterial blood pressure, heart rate and cardiac output;
- 2.
on the resting blood flow of lower legs and feet, and ankle pressure measured over the dorsal artery of the foot;
- 3.
on the venous distensibility of the forearm and lower leg (Table 1).
