Zusammenfassung

Nachdem seit den 50er Jahren Operationen am offenen Herzen einschließlich der offenen Klappenrekonstruktion und seit 1961 der prothetische Herzklappenersatz möglich waren, erschienen bis 1970 nur relativ wenige Berichte über Herzklappenoperationen bei aktiver infektiöser Endokarditis.
