Zusammenfassung
Die schon 1879 von Nitze vorgeschlagene Zölioskopie untersucht endoskopisch die abdominalen und pelvinen Organe. Sie wurde von Georg Kelling (1866 – 1945), einem Dresdner Chirurgen und Mikulicz-Schüler im Tierversuch erprobt. So revolutionär die 1902 in der Münchner Medizinischen Wochenschrift publizierte Methode auch schien, sie fand keine Verbreitung. 1910 berichtete dann der Schwede Hans Christian Jacobaeus (1879 – 1937) ebenfalls in der Münchner Medizinischen Wochenschrift „Über die Möglichkeit, die Zystoskopie bei Untersuchungen seröser Höhlungen anzuwenden“. Er war es auch, der der Laparoskopie den noch heute gebräuchlichen Namen gab. Mit seinen Berichten stellte er die praktische diagnostische Bedeutung der Laparoskopie unter Beweis. Renon führte sie 1913 in Frankreich ein. In den folgenden Jahren wurde die Untersuchungsmethode von Kalk in Deutschland, Ruddock in den Vereinigten Staaten und Palmer in Frankreich verbessert.
