Abstract

The modern internal combustion engine (of the year 2019) for passenger cars is no longer naturally aspirated, but uses charged air instead. This is usually realized with a turbocharger, less often with a supercharger and very rarely with an electric charger. The percentage of new cars sold with a turbocharger is rising in all major markets with a positive outlook [53].
