Abstract

The nature of most businesses is to exchange goods or services for money. Even though certain organizations with different objectives, such as social enterprises and NGOs, have different goals than merely increasing their monetary value, they also exchange good or services to reach their defined targets. Seen from a business process perspective, it can be said, that the core competence of organizations is to reach their defined targets by transforming inputs to outputs. This is reached by the execution of organizational processes which connect the various parts of the organization and, in turn, steered by the execution of management practices.
