Abstract

At the beginning of this book stands a quote by Bugler & Palin (2017: 1) who conclude that adaptation to climate change is, “to a large extent, a local process” and therefore needs to be “sensitive to local contexts”. After having conducted empirical research in Cornwall and at Godrevy, I find that a focus on people’s perceptions of the physical spaces where climate change takes place provides an optimal focus for research on climate adaptation.
