Within the last two decades, statistics education as a field of practice and research has expanded rapidly (Zieffler, Garfield, & Fry, 2018). Increasingly, statistics is recognized as a skill imperative to members of today’s society (Engel, 2017). Although implementations vary wildly, statistics has become an integral part of national standards in mathematics education across the world (e.g. for Germany KMK, 2004; for the United States CCSSI, 2018). Statistics is no longer a field of special interest, and effort now is made to include statistics in all levels of education, from primary to tertiary education (Zieffler et al., 2018).
