Zusammenfassung

Dieses Kapitel beschäftigt sich mit dem Soziologen Manuel Castells und adressiert ein bestimmtes Thema seiner Arbeit: die städtischen sozialen Bewegungen. Im ersten Abschnitt wird seine Forschung über die städtischen sozialen Bewegungen in Bezug zu seiner Biographie gesetzt und wird diese an seine späteren Studien zur Netzwerkgesellschaft angeschlossen. Der darauffolgende Abschnitt erklärt, warum die chilenischen Stadtbewohner/innen zu der empirischen und theoretischen Bezugsquelle werden, die sie in Castells’ Forschung über die politische Rolle der städtischen sozialen Bewegungen in der entwickelten kapitalistischen Gesellschaft einnehmen.
