Introduction

Abstract

This book deals with the striking potentials for peace work in the beginning of the 21^st century, that I see rising from the fertile ashes of modernity’s dead ideals of development and peace building. Despite its modern horror (Kaller-Dietrich in Dietrich et al, 2011), without the ideals of the development industry and the suggestions of peace building scholars, the thoughts shared in this book would have not had the spark of life to emerge. As such, this book is about peace work in the early 21^st century, its challenges and potentials; it is a portrait on the examples of my experiences with teaching skateboarding in Afghanistan.
