Zusammenfassung

Während es in den 1970er und 1980er Jahren eine intensive Diskussion um die „Grenzen des Wachstums“ und um einen Übergang von einem rein quantitativen Wachstum hin zu einem qualitativen Wachstum gab, hört man von diesem Thema in Deutschland (aber auch weltweit) heute kaum noch etwas. Man kann nur mutmaßen, warum das so ist. Aus deutscher Sicht könnte eine Teilerklärung darin bestehen, dass die Wiedervereinigung die gesellschaftliche und politische Aufmerksamkeit ganz auf den Aufbau der Neuen Bundesländer lenkte.
