Abstract

In comparison to other European states, conducting a case study on Cyprus’ strategic culture might be considered to be a rather challenging and complex undertaking. Cyprus’ collective identity is defined by a multitude of different factors. On the one hand, the specific geographic position of Cyprus, its proximity to the Middle East and Africa places the island in an environment, which is quite different from other EU states. This geographic peculiarity in particular, as well as long-standing and close relations between Cyprus and the countries of the Middle East are core notions.
