Interactive Storing, Retrieval, Transformation, and Evaluation of Scientific Data with an Experimental System
Abstract
The user’s view of an experimental system under development and under investigation at the Heidelberg Scientific Center is described. Its goal is to provide a user oriented problem solving environment for manipulation and evaluation of “measurement data” in the widest use of the word. That means numerical data upon which analysis and application of algorithms are to be performed acquired by measurement devices, or from any other source.
The processing of such data is connected with the following items: large quantities of data; complex algorithms for data evaluation; need for interaction between human imagination and machine processing. The main purpose of this research project is to get a better understanding of the possiblities of interactive processing in this field of application.
