The Evolution of Research on Hypnosis. Introductory Remarks

  • Léon Chertok

Abstract

It is indeed gratifying that, in taking place in France, this Symposium renews in a certain sense the links with the great debates which occurred in this country in the last century, and were rendered particularly illustrious by their association with the names of Charcot and Bernheim. It should be added that this brilliant period was unfortunately followed by a prolonged eclipse, and it is only in the past few years that a renewed interest in hypnosis has manifested itself in France.
