Zusammenfassung
Wie in den folgenden Abschnitten näher ausgeführt wird, ist der Antikörper als ein Globulin aufzufassen, das in gewissen Zellen unter dem Einfluß des Antigens so entsteht, daß sich das Antikörperglobulin vom anderen Serumglobulin durch seine Spezifität zum Antigen unterscheidet. Auf Grund der spezifischen Affinität zum Antigen kann eine reversible Antigen-Antikörperverbindung zustande kommen. Die Reindarstellung des Antikörpers aus dem Serum, wie es u. a. die praktische Herstellung therapeutischer Serumpräparate erstrebt, hängt aufs engste mit den Problemen der Eiweißstruktur des Serums zusammen, die daher zunächst zu erörtern ist.
