Radiation Characteristics of Surface Combustion Burners
Conference paper
Abstract
The radiation characteristics of two types of surface combustion burner are reported both in terms of the quantity and the spectral distribution of the energy emitted as a function of thermal input. Surface emissivities deduced from the infra-red spectra are accounted for through microscopic examination of the radiating surfaces. For one burner type, the wide distribution of temperature thus revealed is shown to be consistent with the measured emissivity and with the steep temperature gradient known to exist in the fibre layers of the burner surface.
