Critical Properties of Spin Chains
Conference paper
Abstract
The Sx-Sx correlation functions of S=1/2 and 1 XXZ chains are numerically investigated at low temperatures by means of the transfer matrix with use of the Trotter approximation. It is shown that extrapolation to N=∞ works quite effectively and makes the estimation of the critical indices ν, γ and η possible. In the case of S=1/2 the obtained values of ν,γ and η agree quite well with the exact values obtained by Luther and Peshel. Haldane’s conjecture for integer spins is confirmed in the case of S=1.
