Abstract

Interdisciplinary collaboration in perinatal medicine between obstetrician and pediatrician has for a long time been a foregone conclusion. Psychosomatic aspects, however, have largely remained excluded. In postexaminations they are either completely absent, or they appear in vague formulations referring to “psychic stress”. In psychosomatically oriented obstetrics, however, collaboration with pediatrics is hardly developed, although conflicts that become urgent during pregnancy are nearly as important for the later development of the child as they are for the course of pregnancy and delivery.
