Stimulation of Gastric Acid Secretion Causes Actin Filament Formation and Development of the Secretory Surface in Frog Oxynticopeptic Cells
Conference paper
Abstract
Gastric acid secretion is a complicated process that does not occur without dramatic structural changes in parietal cells including the formation of actin-containing microvilli within elaborate intracellular canaliculi after stimulation (2, 6). The morphology of inhibited and stimulated parietal cells is well known (6). However, little is known about the structural changes that occur in parietal cells as inhibited cells transform into stimulated cells.
