GPS Geodesy: The Contribution of the Australasian Regional Tracking Network
Conference paper
Abstract
With those few words, the central role of the Global Positioning System (GPS) in today’s armory of geodetic measurement tools is placed in perspective. It is a system that has evolved, albeit very rapidly, to become the most economic and accessible of the geodetic technologies. However, along the way, the GPS technologies have had to undergo quite a transformation in hardware, software and operational strategies and procedures. It is one of the latter that this paper is concerned with.
