Zusammenfassung

Infektionen sind heute in der allgemeinen ärztlichen Praxis hinsichtlich der Arztkonsultationen, des Krankenstandes und des Ausfalls an Arbeitstagen in der Häufigkeit nach wie vor mit an die Spitze aller Krankheiten zu stellen (Alexander 1982; Ocklitz 1983). Die Morbidität ist in hohem Maße durch Virusinfektionen, aber auch durch bakterielle Infektionen des Magen-Darm-Kanals, des Respirationstrakts und der Harnorgane bestimmt. Zunehmend müssen Erkrankungen durch potentiell pathogene Keime einbezogen werden, die die Problematik eines Erregerwandels in der Inneren Medizin aufzeigen (Ruckdeschel 1977; Weuffen 1984). Die Ausdehnung des internationalen Reiseverkehrs erfordert ferner Aufmerksamkeit für importierte nichtheimische Infektionskrankheiten einschließlich Protozoonosen und Parasitosen.
