Abstract

Pain is the predominant symptom that brings patients with chronic pancreatitis to the surgeon. The surgical treatment of patients with chronic pancreatitis is based on the preservation of as much pancreatic function as possible, while attempting to improve the patient’s symptoms. Most operations performed are designed to treat the complications of this disease. Since anatomical complications vary widely, the availability of several operative approaches is essential.
