Nocturnal Myocardial Ischemia and Cardiac Arrhythmias in Patients with Coronary Heart Disease and Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders
Conference paper
Abstract
According to our own and other examinations, sleep-related breathing disorders (SRBD) and nocturnal snoring are associated with an increased morbidity and mortality risk, mainly caused by diseases of the cardiovascular system: arterial and pulmonary hypertension, right-sided heart insufficiency, bradycardiac and tachycardiac arrhythmias, and sudden cardiac death [1–5]. Epidemiologic studies indicate an interdependence between nocturnal snoring/nocturnal breathing disorders and arterial hypertension, malignant cardiac arrhythmias, coronary heart disease (CHD), sudden cardiac death, and apoplexy [6–8].
