Pulse Breakup due to Coherent Self-Induced Transmission on a Free Exciton Resonance

Abstract
Theoretical and experimental studies of femtosecond pulses propagating on a free exciton resonance show coherent pulse breakup due to self-induced transmission at long propagation distances at pulse areas above π.
