Electroweak Properties of the Baryons in QCD

Abstract

The method of QCD sum rules has been applied to the study of the properties of the Nucleon and other Baryons by a number of authors [1,2]. Ioffe and Smilga [3] and independently Balitsky and Yung [4] have computed the magnetic moments by evaluating the nucleon current correlation in the presence of an external magnetic field. This was extended to study the axial vector renormalization constants in ref. [5,6]. The analysis of ref. [3,4] was extended in ref. 7 by including additional terms in the operator product expansion (OPE) and adopting a different procedure for analyzing the sum rules. In particular, it was pointed out that expressed in appropriate units [cf. Table 1] the magnetic moments have a simple pattern. We have extended the calculation to ⋀ hyperon [8]. Our results are summarised in ref. [6,7,10]. The following is a brief outline of the calculations.
